Pilot program supports homeless needs

In Kansas City, Humana is working with Community CareLink to support the homeless population that might otherwise not have appropriate health care. The program provides additional options for emergency responders who encounter people in need of help.

The emergency room deferment program allows emergency responders to evaluate a person’s medical condition, and if there is not a medical emergency, the individual is transported to a residential facility where they can benefit from both a stable environment, and treatment for acute issues such as substance use disorder.
